An Awfully Big Adventure Guide

Elekk Plushie

Do you have a Elekk Plushie? Have you taken him on the world adventure to visit the 44 battle pet tamers needed to complete the achievement: An Awfully Big Adventure? There are actually two achievements associated with this pet. The first is Overstuffed which you get just by leveling him to 25. But for the second one you just basically use 2 pets teams to beat all the tamers while carrying the Elekk Plushie who does not really have any useful abilities besides being super cute!

A few things to note is that the Elekk Plushie only has to be on the team and alive at the start. He does not have to actually fight (unless you want to get experience for him to level up) and he can die during the fight if you wish to use him to soak particularly hard hits from the rest of your team.

This achievement will take at minimum three weeks to complete because only three of the possible nine tamers will be available each week at the Celestial Tournament. But there is a trick when it comes to the Celestial Tournament trainers, you don’t have to beat them all at the same time. You can beat one, get credit for that trainer on the achievement, exit, heal your pets and go back in to tackle the next one.

Note: The numbers you see below are the spells used by each pet in the default pet journal (1 = top spell) (2 = bottom spell). Be sure to check your pets spells in the default journal NOT any addon UIs which may show the spells in a different order such as Rematch which shows left – right not top – bottom.

Note: You can use these same strategies to power level your pets however to level pets they will need to get at least one hit in on the fight. Just substitute your leveling pet where the Elekk would be positioned. IF your leveling pet does not have enough health to take the initial hit, battle a near by wild pet to get a few levels up then go back and try again.

I actually worked through this achieve while compiling these strategies so I can say 100% they worked for me. I did not use specific breeds and for the most part the pets I chose are easily collected. Many of the strategies here came from or or however these wowhead guides here and here are worth checking out.

I love Blizzard 50% Sales!

I hate when I’m going thru my battle pets and I see pet’s I once owned but are long gone now like the Mini Diablo, Panda Cub, Zergling, and Netherwhelp! Or the Vampiric Batling which can NEVER be replaced since it was from an event long ago.

OR pet’s that I simply missed the opportunity to get like Mini Thor. My daughter surprised me with StarCraft® II for my birthday =)

But now thanks to the heads-up from Cymre I am now the proud owner of not only Mini Thor but also Zeradar from the Legacy of the Void™.

[tweetherder]It’s time to bring the thunder with your new Mini Thor![/tweetherder]

StarCraft® II

From: Breanni
Subject: Power Overwhelming!

I’ve never seen a pet with such overwhelming power before! I tried to ask it where it came from and what it wants, but all it said was “THE MERGING IS COMPLETE” and then started assaulting nearby squirrels.

A hero of your stature would surely know some tricks to contain this magical monstrosity!

I first purchased the standard copy of Legacy of the Void™ which qualified me to then purchase “The Complete Trilogy” package at a discounted $40 instead of the $99.99 all together I spent about $75 for the Digital Deluxe copy of both Wings of Liberty® and Legacy of the Void™ including all the goodies. StarCraft® II is on sale thru May 18th!

Now I at least have hope to one day get the Fetish Shaman from the Diablo® III DD copy when it comes on sale again. Now if only Blizzard would offer sales on the older expansions as digital deluxe packages … not likely.

A White Murloc Egg has Recently Been Discovered

Once only available to Taiwanese players, Terky the murloc pet is now available to US.

Terky Murloc egg found!

But recently a White Murloc Egg has been discovered in a small cave under Riplash Ruins in the Borean Tundra.

In a cave under Riplash Ruins, a white murloc egg is discovered.

Once positioned around 56.88 dive down into the water and swim down until you see the purple seaweed follow it into a narrow tunnel. This tunnel isn’t very long and appears to end abruptly, just swim upwards into an opening and follow the path. Here you will find the egg in on the ground, behind the altar.

Battle Pet Guide: Unborn Val’kyr

Unborn Val'kyr
The Unborn Val’kyr pet can revive nearby dead critters!

The Unborn Val’kyr is a bit hard to come by but well WORTH the hunt actually you would be doing yourself a favor to hunt down two (or even three) of these lovely creatures.

The Unborn Val’kyr  is 1/3 of the boss killing trio or what I personally refer to as the ‘kick ass team’ –  the other two being Pandaren Water Spirit and Chrominius. Start with the Val’kyr by using Curse of Doom then Unholy Ascension (some people prefer to use Haunt). Switch to PWS, use Geyser then Whirlpool. Switch to Chrominius and use Howl this combo will kill nearly any pet in the round that it hits, provided that it does not have an immunity like Dodge or Dive or reduction like Crouch, or otherwise. If the enemy somehow survives, Surge of Power will finish the job.

Battling with the Unborn Val’kyrI had this post ready togo last week but scheduled it to post this week. In the mean time Warcraft Pets chose the Unborn Val’kyr as the March Pet of the Month.

How to defeat a PVP team that includes an Val’kyr?

Try using a fast frog such as S/S Leopard Tree Frog. Tongue Lash X 2 while getting cursed and haunted – will remove a third to a half of the Val’kyr’s health before it haunts. Cleansing Rain – reduces duration of haunt, increases aquatic damage and buffs Dreadful Breath. Frog Kiss until dead. A Scourged Whelpling, preferably H/H so he’ll live for 2 rounds of Dreadful Breath. There is a reasonable chance that the Val’kyr in the back row will be dead before it has a chance to come back in to the fight. If your sixth Dreadful Breath is before your ‘death round’, you can either use Tail Sweep as your death round attack but I like Call Darkness.  Choose a third pet that will benefit from Call Darkness such as one with Nocturnal Strike or Spectral Strike. IE: Bat, Crow, Gilnean Raven, Dread Hatchling, Ghostly Skull, Widget the Departed, ect.. S/S Crow use Nocturnal Strike, Alpha Strike, and maybe another Call Darkness if you get the chance.

How to Guide: The Hunt for the Unborn Val’kyr (With Commentary)

Val’kyr are considered “unborn” until they vanquish a creature of high nobility.

Where to Find an Unborn Val’kyr

She can only be active at one spot at once. Fly all over northrend, she’ll probably be at one of the spawns. If you somehow check every spot, likely she was killed just before you started, check the full route again and you’ll find her.

I suggest using this simple macro while flying from spawn point to spawn which will alert you IF there is a Unborn Val’kyr near by.

/tar Unborn Val’kyr
/stopmacro [noexists]
/script PlaySound(“RaidWarning”)
/run RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidBossEmoteFrame,”Unborn Val’kyr!”, ChatTypeInfo[“RAID_WARNING”])

I also highly recommend using the addon TomTom. Here are the waypoints for all of the known spawn points. Simply make a macro and click it once, it will add dots to your MAP as you fly over them they will disappear making it easy to track which spots you searched and which one’s you still need to fly by.

Tips for Capturing the Unborn Val’kyr

  • Running from the fight, and re-engaging WILL change her move-set. Basically, hover over her picture, if shes has the ability ‘Unholy Ascension’ she’s suicidal, and you need to immediately leave that fight. Re-engage her until she has haunt instead.
  • Do NOT flee when she is dead from haunt, or she will not respawn.
  • Try to capture her before she haunts you, and do not let her be the last pet alive, as haunt will then be a suicide and end the battle.
  • Mind your crits, do not use an ability that hits ‘300-400’ if she has 585 HP, you could end up losing her.

When it comes to farming must have have pets like this, remember the Terrible Turnip is your friend!
