My Week in World of Warcraft

It’s Tuesday so time to share my week in and around Azeroth.

I don’t feel like I did much this last week really. I started off slow with killing the world boss on all thirteen 110’s Tuesday evening. Then Wednesday I ran twelve toon through LFR Tomb. And there lies my downfall … my poor hands paid for all that button smashing!!

I wasn’t able to do much because my fingers we’re swollen and aching for several days. I even missed a couple xmog runs with Neall because my hands just hurt so bad. Then I missed Saturday’s guild run when we lost power for several hours during a thunderstorm. I’m really bummed about it because it caused me to miss our guilds  first kill for Elisandre & Gul’dan. AND I needed those kills to finish off another characters Balance of Power!!

I’m currently at fifteen level 110’s that’s including my grandsons demon hunter, but I don’t play on that one beside the weekly world boss.  My toons or what I call my alliance harem includes one of each class, are well on their way to completing the Legion campaign. I have four more that need to finish the class hall campaign, broken shore campaign, ect. All are currently able to hit the new LFR raid wings for Tomb which means they are all above ilevel 860. Actually most are closer to 900 at this point with just one slacker, the monk.

TRANSMOGRIFICATION

I completed two more set’s for the appearance tab. The Malorne Raiment which I’ve been trying to get the last item, boots from the Chess event in Karazhan, for months now. Funny thing is while I don’t know how many times exactly I ran my main thru for the boots it just didn’t seem to matter because they would not drop! So last evening I took my #2 druid in for that one more chance before reset and they dropped YAH!!

OK so I figured if #2 is going to have good luck then why not try again with another set that only needs one item. Sure enough Ulduar 10 Mimiron droped my helm token, YAH!!!

I also ran ICC 10 but my luck seemed to have ran out there because I didn’t get anything I needed.

TIP: For faster set completions it’s a good idea to run alts of the same class to collect xmog. Also run all your alts who can wear the same armor type because any look-a-like gear they pick up does many times count for the other classes who share armor types.

ACHIEVEMENTS

I also did some random achievements this last week. I have this small issue when it comes to achieves, I NEED to complete them ALL!!

But not just complete them all, I NEED to complete them all on my MAIN!! So quite often I find myself going back and completing achieves that I’ve already completed on other characters LOL.

I got credit for Loremaster back in 2011 so I have completed questing the old zones but I didn’t go back and re-quest the zones after the Cataclysm. I know, I know, but like I often say, better late than never! So, I finally went back and did the quest again for Thousand Needles, Dustwallow Marsh, and Desolace. I’m not done yet though because I’ve still have at least another handful of those reset zones to go.

I know everyone has been busy busy mount collecting, especially  since the class mounts debuted, but not me. Well, not anymore than I was before is more accurate. It’s not that I’m not in a hurry, I am, then again I’m just not. I’m only six mounts away from the 300 achieve so yaa I am looking forward to that. But I’m also determined to help my Barla to catch up the army of alts so we’re doing one or two mount quest weekly. SO far we’ve crossed off the list: Hunter, Rogue, Mage, and now the Druid as well.

Darkmoon Faire brought with it a new event boss this last week, the Blight Boar Concert. I managed to get 3 of the 4 new achievements completed so far.

I understand you can loot a new toy [Blight Boar Microphone] and xmog items [Leather-Lined Cage Helm] [Necromedes, the Death Resonator] from this event. Note: The new helm is available for all armor types.

Taking this Show on the Road is HARD! The event only happens on the half-hour and takes maybe 5 minutes to complete. The hard part for me was not getting hit by the banshee waves =(

PEEVE OF THE WEEK

First off WHY do ALL classes BUT druids get a CLASS MOUNT!!

Druids did NOT get a mount, we got a new flight form!! Yes it is a two seater but It doesn’t even share with any other druid alts! So Druid alts must do the full class hall mount quest line but no one else does. THAT’S JUST NOT RIGHT Blizzard!!

AND

Hodir still WONT give me the Ominous Pile of Snow. The Winter Rageling pet has been the last one I needed for Raiding with Leashes IV: Wrath of the Lick King for many months now. WEIRD, I could have sworn it was the Boneshard pet I needed, now I wonder how many times I hit Lord Marrowgar needlessly!

Still on my To Do List:

  • Complete the class hall quest line for Monk, Pally, DK, and DH.
  • Complete the class mount quest for Priest, Warlock, Shaman, Monk, DH, Warrior, Pally, and DK.
  • Complete the last five quest achieves for Kalimdor.
  • Complete the Lich King Dungeon Faceroller & Soul Power achieves.
  • Complete a few more Lich King Raid achieves.

So comment below and share what your working on? And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter & Facebook =}

Taming Azeroth

The last few days I’ve been working on collecting and leveling battle pets in between hitting 90 on my druid and hitting exalted with The Tillers, Order of the Cloud Serpents, and opening Klaxxi dailies (finally) on my mage.

The 2012 Hallow’s End has come and gone and I was sure to get rings for both my 90 toons, and lucky me since they are both spell casters I ended up with both available rings on each – that’s a nice boost to iLevel. Of course the flying Headless Horseman’s mount has once again evaded my clutches!

exalted cloud serpents

It’s going on four hours now that I’ve been flying around Shadowmoon Valley in search of the rare Fel Flame battle pets and thus far I’ve found and faught 8 all grey quality as well as spotted 2 more which we’re unfortunately unengaged due to positioning. Four hours may seen crazy to some but all that time was not in vain I promise – I also knocked off a couple achievements. AND finally in hour five (and my 11th try) I got my rare Fel Flame yay!!

Now I’m off to find a better than common Flayer Youngling in Terokkar Forest. Both of these battle pets have been said to be well worth leveling to 25 as both are great at the fights. Twenty minutes into flying about Razorthorn Rise and I’ve battled 4 Flayer Younglins, two we’re uncommon greens. With the introduction of Battle-stones coming in 5.1 I may just settle for waiting to upgrade this one myself rather than spending hours hunting for the rare. Crossing the two hour mark now I’ve ended up fighting 9 of these and the best I’ve gotten is the uncommon (green).

I’ve managed to finish a few Battle Pet Achievements as of late, some easy, some a little time consuming, and some pretty dang frustrating to complete.

Achievement Outland Tamer

Achievement Traveling Pet Mauler

Achievement Family Reunion

Still in Progress are Eastern Kingdom Tamer which requires Deadwind Pass, the problem is only one pet spawns in this area. Restless Shadelings are undead battle pets found in the cellars of the ghost town in front of Karazhan. Reports are they spawn only after midnight or early morning. I personally haven’t ever found them and I’ve checked several times between midnight and 2am.

Power Leveling Battle Pets – It’s worth noting that there are ways to power level your battle pets. While I’ve been spending my time looking for rare battle pets I’ve also been working through the achievement No Favorites by running a level 1 pet along with a level 25 pet. My third pet I let fight until death and then leave it dead for this because all the XP will go to the level 1 pet. All you need to do is have your level one pet attack just one time then switch pets to your level 25 and kick butt!

The OverAchiever: That Rabbit’s Dynamite!

Every Thursday, The Overachiever shows you how to work toward those sweet achievement points. This week, the shadow of a nameless, albeit cuddly, fear. One of the problems with WoW‘s complexity is how difficult it is to write about anything that you haven’t personally done. As a result, most OverAchiever columns are about achievements I’ve either finished or am actively working on, in the hopes of avoiding outdated or inaccurate information. However, this week’s option cracked me up so much that, even though my guild’s largely on break until Mists of Pandaria hits, I kind of have to write about it.Today, dear readers, we are going to address a brand-new achievement, from what is currently the most dangerous raid boss in the game as of patch 5.0.4:The killer rabbit of Darkmoon Island.

Stop laughing and get back here. That rabbit’s dynamite.

The OverAchiever That Rabbit's Dynamite!

There’s an endearing and distinctly Blizzardesque humor in sticking a level ?? raid boss in the form of a rabbit into the Darkmoon Faire, but being funny doesn’t make it easier. Be prepared for a lot of ugly death, and quite possibly a lot of inconvenience, if you want this achievement.

Guide to That Rabbit’s Dynamite!

Right. In order to get this achievement done, you need the following:

  • Access to the Darkmoon Faire
  • A 40-man raid (possibly a smaller one if you plan on healing through the rabbit’s random damage)
  • Repair money

At best, the rabbit will only be available for 7 days out of each month, as you can’t access Darkmoon Island at any other time. However, when the Faire goes live, you’ll find a neutral, elite level ?? rabbit with 174 million HP in or around a cave on the southeastern portion of the island at 77,80.

The OverAchiever That Rabbit's Dynamite!

Now, this is a brand-new “raid” boss, and information’s always a bit sketchy early on, but these are the details that everyone seems to agree on:

  • The rabbit resets if you try to kite/tank it outside the cave or the immediate beach. You’ll have to fight it pretty much where you find it. Blizzard doesn’t want players bringing it to the main part of the Faire to cause havoc with the players there.
  • Do whatever you can to keep the rabbit around, or preferably in, the cave. Most players have had the rabbit evade bug or reset even while it’s fearing and then attacking players in the sea outside. While this won’t help framerates on lower-end computers, crowding everybody in the cave vastly improves the odds of one-shotting the bunny, because the real issue is keeping people close by when the rabbit fears them. (More on this in a moment).
  • Bring a full 40-man raid. Most players suggest 2-4 tanks. The rabbit melees for about 60K on a decently-geared tank and only has one ability of note, which randomly targets anything on its hit table. How many healers you bring is probably going to be a function of how disposable you think most of the raid is. The primary source of raid damage will be the rabbit’s Huge, Sharp Teeth! ability, which fears a random player while channeling around 30,000-35,000 damage per second to him/her. (The rabbit will go for the player’s neck in celebrated Monty Python fashion, so it won’t be dealing damage to the tank in the interim.) You can heal through this if you choose to. However, most players are usually in a rush to get the rabbit down before another group gets to it and will throw any raid group together as a result. Ignoring the damage and graveyard-zerging the rabbit is possible with a 40-man raid, and you’ll need a lot of DPS anyway to get through that huge pile of health in a reasonable time.
  • Just keep running back from the graveyard. The Darkmoon Faire graveyard is located at 47,74 around the tent to the right of the Darkmoon Deathmatch arena. It takes about 25-30 seconds to run back to the cave.
  • The rabbit does respawn during the Darkmoon Faire, but the timer is pretty long. This will be the most inconvenient part of trying to get this achievement done. I’ve seen suggestions range from a 12-hour to as much as a 48-hour respawn timer. If it means anything, I’ve tried catching a spawn up on 6 different servers and haven’t managed it.
  • There are already reports of griefing. Another raid group can grief yours by attempting to reset/evade bug the rabbit. I don’t know if there’s really anything you can do about this.

Assuming you get it down, the rabbit will drop a BOE Darkmoon Rabbitnon-combat pet. The singular article there is very much intended: You’ll only get one pet per kill, no matter how many players are in on it. Yeah, that kinda sucks, yes, we’ve already seen reports of ninja raid leaders, and yes, Darkmoon Rabbit pets have started popping up on auction houses at astronomical prices across lots of servers.

Either way, you’ll still have your achievement, and the knowledge that you’ve saved Azeroth from a, um, dangerous menace.
